Proposed Extension to Thompson Leisure Ltd
Rowantree Road, Dromore

Welcome

We are inviting your views on a proposed extension to the existing Thompson Leisure facility at 21A Rowantree Road, Dromore. The feedback received will help to inform the planning application that will be submitted to Armagh City, Banbridge & Craigavon Borough Council.

Application Site

The application site comprises 21A Rowantree Road, Dromore and adjacent lands to the southwest.  It also includes a section of Rowantree Road from its junction with the A1 to No.33, Dromore.

Existing Development

The current facility operated by Thompson Leisure at 21A Rowantree Road is primarily used for the sale and rental of campervans and motorhomes.  The existing yard and sales office benefit from Certificate of Lawfulness approvals LA08/2020/1306/LDE and LA08/2020/1435/LDE.  The existing facility is shown outlined in red below:

EXISTING TLL SITE

Approved Development

Planning permission LA08/2019/0972/F was also granted in 2023 for an extension to the existing facility into the adjacent field to the west. A copy of the approved site plan for that permission can be viewed and downloaded below:

The Proposal

The applicant intends to submit a full planning application for the demolition of the existing sales office building and erection of a new building to include a sales office, showroom and commercial garage/workshop with roof mounted solar panels and an extension to the existing, associated yard and parking area for motorhome sales, repair, storage, service and rental with a wash area. Associated site works, landscaping and a new access with improvements to Rowantree Road also form part of the proposal.

All comments should be provided before the end of 8th March 2024 to ensure they are given consideration before submission of the formal planning application.

Next Steps

Following the conclusion of this pre-application public consultation, all comments will be reviewed. Once considered, relevant changes may be made to the development and all comments, including a summary of the key concerns and the applicant’s responses will be included in a Pre-Application Community Consultation Report.  This report will accompany the application submission.

Supporting technical and environmental documents will be finalised to accompany the application.  Once complete, the supporting documents and final proposed drawings will be submitted with the Pre-Application Community Consultation Report as a planning application to the Council for consideration and determination.

Once the application is validated, the Council will proceed with its own statutory consultation. The Council will notify the local community about the consultation and application process and how they can participate.
