Proposed Extension to Thompson Leisure Ltd

We are inviting your views on a proposal for the extension to the existing Thompson Leisure facility at 62b - 62c Drumnabreeze Road, Magheralin. The feedback received will help to inform the planning application that will be submitted to Armagh City, Banbridge & Craigavon Borough Council.

Application Site

The application site comprises 62b - 62c Drumnabreeze Road, Magheralin and adjacent lands to the south.  It also includes a section of Drumnabreeze Road from No. 69 to 137m to the north-north-east of No. 60.

Existing Development

The current facility operated by Thompson Leisure Ltd at 62b - 62c Drumnabreeze Road is primarily used for the preparation, service, rental and storage of campervans and motorhomes.  The original garage/workshop and yard benefit from Certificate of Lawfulness approval LA08/2022/0027/LDE.

Due to the continued growth of the business, the yard
has been extended and work has also commenced on an extension to the northeast side of the garage/workshop building.  An aerial image of the existing site and building is provided below:

The Proposal

The applicant intends to submit a full planning application for the regularisation and completion of the extended building and yard, as well as a further extension and internal alterations to the existing commercial garage/workshop and extension to the yard and parking area for motorhome sales, repair, storage, service and rental.

Ancillary development includes the erection of solar panels on the roof of the extended co
mmercial 
garage/workshop building, erection of a customer waiting area building and a building to house a biomass boiler and associated fuel storage.  Passing bays are also proposed as an improvement to Drumnabreeze Road.

All comments should be provided before the end of 16th February 2024 to ensure they are given consideration before submission of the formal planning application.

Next Steps

Following the conclusion of this pre-application public consultation, all comments will be reviewed. Once considered, relevant changes may be made to the development and all comments, including a summary of the key concerns and the applicant’s responses will be included in a Pre-Application Community Consultation Report.  This report will accompany the application submission.

Supporting technical and environmental documents will be finalised to accompany the application.  Once complete, the supporting documents and final proposed drawings will be submitted with the Pre-Application Community Consultation Report as a planning application to the Council for consideration and determination.

Once the application is validated, the Council will proceed with its own statutory consultation. The Council will notify the local community about the consultation and application process and how they can participate.
